Welcome to the Advocacy page of the Agricultural Society of Africa! Here, we champion the voices of farmers, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and advocate for policies that support food security and environmental stewardship across the continent.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to advocate for equitable agricultural policies that improve the livelihoods of African farmers, enhance agricultural productivity, and promote sustainable practices that protect our natural resources for future generations.

Key Issues We Address

Food Security

Highlighting the importance of local food production and access to nutritious food.
Advocating for policies that reduce hunger and malnutrition in vulnerable populations.

Sustainable Farming Practices

Promoting agroecology, organic farming, and permaculture as viable alternatives to industrial agriculture.
Supporting research and development of sustainable technologies that benefit smallholder farmers.

Climate Change Resilience

Advocating for strategies that help farmers adapt to climate change, including drought-resistant crops and efficient irrigation systems.
Encouraging policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the agricultural sector.

Land Rights and Access

Working towards securing land tenure and rights for smallholder farmers, especially women and marginalized communities.
Promoting fair land use policies that prevent land grabbing and displacement.

Investment in Agricultural Infrastructure

Advocating for increased investment in rural infrastructure such as roads, storage facilities, and market access.
Highlighting the need for better access to financing and resources for small-scale farmers.
